...Notes...

General: At the moment, I think of this as a work in progress. It's *so* not done, but I needed to post *something*, so there you have it. Eventually, I'll fix it and make it work.

What's up with that outfit?: For the Night's Herald, I borrowed most from the Japanese. While I was doing Blue's character development a long, long time ago, I saw some photos of guys and gals that worked at shrines throughout Japan (that's Shinto, not Buddhist). I thought the hakama they wore pretty much summed up the way I was thinking the Night's Herald should look- at least, a lot better than any other religious influence I'd seen in the waking world (originally, my idea was leaning a lot more toward Roman Catholicism of the Middle Ages). When not dressed in day-to-day attire, you can see the western influence on the Night's Herald, but I felt more comfortable portraying Kaiya in his usual clothing... I think that came more from trying to show his link to Blue than anything else. In the original sketch, I had the idea of showing Kaiya in funeral uniform, as he's first seen in the story.

The Flowers: Those are chrysanthemums. They're used in Diasminian funerals. As for the whole obsession I've got going on with funerals in terms of this pic, you'll have to read the story.

The Tree: That's Kaiya's tree. He hangs out there. You'll find out more about it in the story.
